The regulatory ground under concentrated kratom extracts and isolated 7-hydroxymitragynine products moved fast in 2025–2026. In August 2026 we made the deliberate decision to pull every kratom extract SKU from our online store.
Everything we sell as kratom now is natural, vegetative leaf. No extracts. No isolates. The plant, brewed as tea, the way we do it behind the bar.
The short version
California banned kratom and 7-OH products statewide in 2026. Mississippi bans synthetic kratom extracts and high-concentration 7-OH products. A growing list of Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA) states keep natural leaf legal but restrict extracts and isolates.
Rather than sell products that could be banned in a customer's state next session, we deliberately pulled every kratom extract SKU we carried — including our own AK-280 line — and moved the whole product line to natural crushed leaf plus a full-spectrum Instant Kratom Tea Concentrate.
What natural leaf actually is
Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is an evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia. That dried whole leaf — coarsely broken up but not milled fine and not chemically processed — is what we call natural leaf kratom, or kratom in its vegetative state.
Kratom powder is the same starting leaf milled finer. Kratom extract goes further: the plant material is soaked, cooked down, or chemically processed to pull the alkaloids out and concentrate them in a smaller volume.
Why the regulatory story matters
The regulatory concern isn't with kratom the plant. The concern is with concentrated, isolated, or synthetic products that push alkaloid levels much higher than what the leaf itself produces.
- Concentrated extracts above a certain potency threshold.
- 7-hydroxymitragynine content above a dry-weight ppm cap (usually 2%).
- Synthetic or semi-synthetic isolates of specific alkaloids.
Natural, whole-leaf kratom sits below all three thresholds. That's the compliance path we placed our bet on.

Is kratom legal in my state?
Kratom is legal in most US states. Banned statewide as of 2026: AL, AR, CT, IN, KS, LA, MI, VT, WI, DC, and CA. Rhode Island lifted its ban April 1, 2026. See our Kratom Legality by State page.
Why is 7-hydroxymitragynine controversial?
It's a naturally occurring alkaloid in kratom leaf. Concentrated or isolated 7-OH products push levels dramatically higher than the leaf produces. That's what regulators are targeting — not the leaf itself.
Will you ever bring extracts back?
Only if federal policy changes meaningfully. Until then, no. Natural leaf is where the compliant future of the category is.
